Action Groups



Action Groups are formed by members who are interested in particular topics. The Action Groups are comprised of five or more EPF members. Usually, these action groups are made up of people from different areas of the country. Their common interest gives them support in studying, publicizing, and acting on the issues.

With the increasing use of electronic media, this task is made easier and response time for responding to some issues is faster. The active action groups are listed below. Contact the listed leaders directly to express your interest - just click on the blue email links.

Iraq Action Group
JOIN IRAQ ACTION GROUP today! 

Conscientious Objection Action Group
What some may not know is that the Episcopal Church is a strong supporter of Conscientious Objectors and has, on many occassions, taken formal stances opposing the use of war and involvement in wars. EPF seeks to enhance the Church's support of Conscientious Objection, and provide additional resources and opportunities to engage in active resistance to war.

Nuclear Abolition Action Group
Provides and organizes members with information concerning the abolition of nuclear weapons and general disarmament issues. 

Death Penalty Action Group
Has been involved in exploring the topics of death penalty abolition, justice, and penal reform. Has a network from around the country who have related actions and vigils in various states. Has been involved with visitations, political actions, public protest, and church action. Has contacts with People of Faith against the Death Penalty.

Israel/Palestine Action Group
This group has concentrated on the Israel/Palestine conflict and the Iraq antisanctions movement. It shares action alerts and information from groups doing similar work at home and abroad. It also shares reports of work done by members of the action group.

Tibet & China Action Group
This group promotes knowledge and action on behalf of the Tibetan people both under Chinese occupation and in exile. Encourages the observance of "World Tibet Day" and the "Interfaith Call for Universal Religious Freedom and for Human Rights" in Tibet.

Iran Action Group
Out of a growing concern for the people of Iran and the impending threats of another war, the National Executive Council (NEC)of the Episcopal Peace Fellowship launches the EPF Iran Action Group.  Sister (Rev. Dr.) Ellen Francis, member of the Order of St. Helena, will co- convene the group along with the Rev. Dr. Richard Deats and will be assisted by NEC member the Rev. Ranjit Mathews.

Cuba Action Group
The CUBA action group has been involved with: trying to end the embargo of Cuba; helping to send prescription eyeglasses to Cuba; activities regarding the School of the Americas; Providing a central point for links to information sites about Cuba, both religious and political; disseminating email information regarding latest trips and other activities.
